We recently bought a 1950s house that had been fully remodeled — except the prior owner skipped the seismic retrofit and covered the basement walls as part of the remodel. We didn’t want to live in a house that could fall on our heads, so we hired Sound Seismic to saw out the finished walls and install the retrofit. They then had to patch the walls and repaint.
